Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 and N70 EREV SUVs Enter MIIT Filing

Xiaomi Auto's SkyNomad story has moved beyond a homepage teaser. Chinese technology outlet IT Home reported on July 10, 2026 that four Xiaomi Pengcheng / SkyNomad plug-in extended-range hybrid models appeared in the 409th batch of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology new-product filing. The list includes Xiaomi Pengcheng N90 Max Camping Edition, Xiaomi Pengcheng N70, Xiaomi Pengcheng N70 Max, and Xiaomi Pengcheng N90 Max.

The filing gives SkyNomad a clearer shape. Instead of another pure-electric sedan or a direct repeat of YU7, Xiaomi appears to be preparing large-space extended-range SUVs with family, travel, and outdoor-use scenarios in mind. That changes the market reading of SkyNomad: it is no longer just a name to watch, but a potential second track for Xiaomi Auto after its early pure-EV push.

What the MIIT Filing Reveals

According to the filing details reported by IT Home and carried by Sina Technology, all four SkyNomad / Pengcheng models are gasoline-electric plug-in extended-range hybrids with a stated top speed of 190 km/h. They use Harbin Dongan Automotive Engine's M15DRE 1.5-liter engine, with displacement listed at 1499 ml and maximum net power at 112 kW.

The N90 Max is the larger vehicle. It is listed with a length of 5285 mm, width of 1998 mm, height of 1825 mm, and a 3080 mm wheelbase. The N90 Max Camping Edition is taller at 1925 mm because of its pop-up roof equipment. The N70 family is smaller but still large by global SUV standards, with a length of 4960 mm, width of 1998 mm, and a 2950 mm wheelbase. N70 and N70 Max are both listed as five-seat models, while N90 Max offers five-seat and seven-seat versions.

Why N90 and N70 Matter

The most interesting part is not only size. The SkyNomad filing points to a different kind of Xiaomi Auto buyer. SU7 built attention through a performance sedan formula. YU7 expanded Xiaomi into the electric SUV market. N90 and N70, by contrast, appear designed around flexible interior use, longer travel, and extended-range convenience.

The N90 Max Camping Edition makes that direction especially visible. Filing information describes a pop-up roof, roof bed board, side cabinet, side awning interface, and optional cabin projection set and removable table. A brand that offers sedans, pure-electric SUVs, and extended-range large-space SUVs may carry stronger long-term recognition than a brand built around one hot model. For exporters, the filing also raises practical questions.
